2023 Entrepreneurship Summit

Information for Speakers

About the Summit

The Entrepreneurship Summit is a two-day event that takes place on Washington and Lee University’s campus. It brings together students and alumni interested in entrepreneurship and those who have launched their own business ventures.

The first Summit was held in 2012. The event has grown into what it is today because it is beneficial to participants in many ways. For alumni, it is an opportunity to rekindle old friendships and network.  For students, it is a chance to hear the real-world experiences of successful entrepreneurs. The interaction between alumni and students has resulted in tangible benefits such as internships, job offers, and lifelong mentoring relationships.

Session Details

  • Unless otherwise informed, sessions are scheduled for 60 minutes (to include Q&A)

  • Typically 2-4 alumni are on each panel

  • Session content: Session hosts and panelists determine the structure, style, and content of the sessions. Here are a few ideas to consider:

    • Panelists can begin the session by providing a very brief bio and business description

    • Attendees have found great value in having panelists share “lessons learned”

    • Leave at least 10 minutes at the end of the session for questions from audience

    • PowerPoint is available at all sessions but not often used in panel sessions. Panels can make decisions on this.

  • Speakers are encouraged to reach out to their host with questions related to their panel.
